Utah woman injured in London attack 'getting stronger'

Smiling even though she is battered, bruised and standing on a shattered leg, this is the first picture of the American widow since her husband was murdered in the London terror attack.

And the 46-year-old is "getting stronger every day", according to her brother, as she recovers in hospital from the appalling incident.

Melissa Cochran, whose husband Kurt died in the attack, was photographed in hospital where she is undergoing treatment for her injuries. She suffered a broken leg, a broken rib and a cut to her head, Payne said previously on social media. Her husband, Kurt Cochran, was one of four people who died in the attack.

Melissa and Kurt Cochran were on the last day of a holiday celebrating their 25th anniversary in London when Khalid Masood ploughed his vehicle into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge.

In a statement at New Scotland Yard on Monday, Melissa's family said they did not know the pair - believed to be among the first hit by Masood - had been caught up in the attack until they saw pictures on social media. If you are considering a deposit to the account, you should consult your own advisors and otherwise proceed at your own risk. Melissa was hurt and Kurt was killed.

Mr Payne said his sister was "so grateful and overwhelmed with your generosity and outpouring of love" and thanked nearly 2,000 donors for their kind words and support.

The "hero" officer was stabbed to death as he tried to stop Masood entering Parliament.

An image posted Thursday by her brother, Clint Payne, to a fundraising page set up by the family shows Melissa smiling as she holds a cellphone in her hospital bed.

"So many people have been so kind, and we are deeply touched by their goodness and generosity. He was an awesome individual who loved everyone and tried to make the world a better place".

Clint Payne, Mr Cochran's brother-in-law, appeared with twelve other members of the family at a press conference and said: 'This has been a humbling and hard experience but we have felt the love of so many people during these past several days.

The family declined to comment on their feelings towards Masood, the Guardian said.

Mrs Cochran was hit by Khalid Masood's vehicle. Masood was then shot by police.

Thousands of people joined hands in a vigil for the victims exactly a week after the attack on Wednesday, while tributes have been paid across the country.
