Roseanne Is TV's Latest Throwback Reboot

Roseanne Is TV's Latest Throwback Reboot

Following reboots of Will & Grace, Full House, Gilmore Girls, The X-Files, and freakin' The Magic School Bus, the classic sitcom Roseanne is prepping a return to television.

The revival is now being shopped to networks, with Netflix among the suitors bidding on the project. It was praised for its realistic portrayal of the average American family, the Conners, an IL working-class family.

Roseanne Barr and John Goodman, who played working class couple Roseanne and Dan Conner, are reportedly interested in returning, along with original stars Laurie Metcalf and Sara Gilbert. The new installment will be produced by the same team as the original - Tom and Rosanne - along with Bruce Helford and Sara. "Roseanne" aired on ABC during its original run from 1988 to 1997, so it would be a fitting home for the show's return.

Other cast members like Laurie Metcalf and Johnny Galecki are now in talks, but will most likely be returning as well! Now, generations after fans have had time to digest that ending, Roseanne is threatening to unravel all of that with a new season.

An eight-episode reboot of the sitcom is now being shopped to both broadcast networks and streaming services.

Looking forward to a Roseanne comeback?

Roseanne had one of TV's most memorable series finales.

Deadline reports ABC is especially keen on bringing the series back in an effort to represent everyday Americans. The revival talk first started a month ago when Roseanne herself tweeted that the cast of the show was up for a reunion.

Goodman has juggled TV and film roles, leaning towards more dramatic fare such as The West Wing, Argo and most recently Patriot's Day. She was replaced by Sarah Chalke, returning during the show's eighth season, when she and Chalke alternated playing Becky.
