Prince Sold More Albums Than Any Artist Since Death

The search warrants show that they searched Paisley Park within hours of Prince's death and found dozens of prescription medications stored in various containers other than standard prescription bottles.

Social media turned purple on Friday with photos of Prince filling news feeds on the first anniversary of the iconic musician's death. His best-selling albums past year were The Very Best of Prince, with 668,000 copies sold, followed by Purple Rain and 1999.

The day's surprise musical guest - Rock and Roll Hall of Famer George Clinton and his band Parliament-Funkadelic - helped keep spirits high with the sort of high-energy, jam-heavy performance the Purple One himself would have adored. Unfortunately, the legal turmoil surrounding the rights to Prince's music, as well as the ongoing investigation into his death from the painkiller fentanyl, may impact his legacy as one of the greatest artists of all time.

The music legend died at his Paisley Park estate on April 21st past year from an accidental overdose of pain killers.

Both longtime Prince fans, the Young Fables' Laurel Wright and Wes Lunsford have always been working on their own version of "Purple Rain", due mostly to Lunsford's obsession with one of the music world's finest guitarists.

Events on tap range from concert performances by Prince's former bandmates to panel discussions.

However, Comerica Bank & Trust and Paisley Park Enterprises, which manages Prince's estate, sued to stop the release, claiming it was "violating the terms of [Boxill's] agreement with Prince 'for his personal gain at the expense of the Prince Estate, '" reported The New York Times. A relatively cheaper option - $549 general admission passes - was still available midweek.

The shows will feature Wendy Melvoin, Lisa Coleman, Brownmark, Dr. Fink, and Bobby Z, with special guests Dez Dickerson and Andre Cymone, who were Prince's sidemen early in his career.

A memorial street party outside the club is also scheduled for Saturday. She wore a Prince symbol pendant and had spray-painted the symbol in black along the legs of her white trousers. Prince performed it for record executives when he first signed with Warner Bros. Several Minneapolis landmarks will also be bathed in purple lights.
