Facebook Murder Suspect Fatally Shoots Self In Erie County

"We have closure in regards to the hunt for Steve Stephens", said Frank Jackson, mayor of Cleveland, where Mr Godwin, 74, lived and was murdered.

The search for murder suspect Steve Stephens put authorities in surrounding states on the lookout.

Henry Sayers, the restaurant's manager, told The New York Times that Stephens bought a 20-piece Chicken McNuggets and large French fries for $5.35, and that employees tried to stall the murderer by purposely delaying his order of fries.

Stephens then fatally shot himself inside the vehicle.

As his vehicle was spinning out of control due to the maneuver, Stephens pulled out a pistol and shot himself in the head.

Stephens was the focal point of a almost two-day nationwide manhunt after shooting and killing 74-year-old Robert Godwin about 2 p.m. on Easter Sunday, police said.

Mr Safronkov also claimed America's cruise missile strikes on a Syrian airbase "was carried out in violation of global norms". Tillerson and Lavrov also "briefly" discussed Russian attempts to meddle in the USA presidential election.

The video of the killing was up for three hours before it was taken down, raising questions about Facebook's handling of objectionable material posted by its users.

Pa. State police Cpl. The social media site later confirmed the video was "recorded and then uploaded to Facebook". "Period", Cleveland's police chief said.

As officers approached the vehicle, Steve Stephens, "took his own life", Williams said. "A traffic stop was attempted and, after a brief pursuit, Stephens shot and killed himself", the Pennsylvania State Police said on Twitter.

Godwin pleads with Stephens before he was shot, "I don't know anybody by that name". Stephens said in a separate video on Facebook on Sunday that he had already killed a dozen others.

"All I can say is that I wish he had gone down in a hail of 100 bullets", Godwin's daughter, Brenda Haymon, told CNN. The incident highlights Facebook's awkward position when it comes to detecting, censoring and removing graphic content on its platform.

Photos of Stephens flashed on digital billboards -- from CT to California -- asking anyone with information about Stephens' whereabouts to call the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
