Kevin Tway (69) and Tony Finau (69), the second-round co-leader this week, finished tied for third at 279, with Australia's Aaron Baddeley (68) fifth at 280. He trails Chappell by just one shot heading into Sunday.

Laird finished his day with a wonderful birdie on the par-five 18th hole.

Funk and Sluman, who won the tournament in 2014, birdied five of their first six holes on the par-3 Top of the Rock course while playing modified alternate shot and closed with five more birdies on the back nine in a four-ball format.

The 30-year-old, who has six runners-up finishes to his name, was just one shot off the lead after Friday but an outward 38 appeared to have left him struggling.

"It was pretty irritating out there", Grace said.

South African first-round leader Branden Grace, who rallied with two-under 70, is one shot off the lead in a tied for second with American John Huh, who produced an eagle-birdie finish for a round of one under.

After shooting a 74 on Thursday, Palmer has fired a 68 the past two days showing that he can have the consistency and knowledge to get the win.

SHENZHEN, China - Bernd Wiesberger of Austria shot a 3-under 69 Saturday to take a three-stroke lead into the final round of the Shenzhen International.

Laird looked confident when he birdied the second, but he bogeyed three of the next four holes and laboured to a three-over 75 to close on three under par.
