Bill Murray to join cellist for music and spoken word tour

Even Bill Murray himself admitted he was excited about the project and is gaining new insight into the music industry.

The New York Times reports that Murray is now in a Manhattan studio working on the program, which pairs chamber music led by the cellist Jan Vogler, who has played with New York Philharmonic, with songs and literary readings by Murray.

He will be singing the music of George Gershwin and Stephen Foster, as well as songs from "West Side Story".

They will play their first concert at Festival Napa Valley on July 20.

Not just some silly stunt, New Worlds has been brewing since early 2013 when Murray and Vogler met on a flight from Berlin to NY.

In a world where we could all use a few more pleasant surprises, this latest Billy Murray news is very welcome - and with a tour in the cards, it seems like the hipster sport of "Murray Sporting" can declare an open season. In the meanwhile, fans will be able to pick up a studio recording of the program that is expected out in August. The chamber music ensemble includes Mira Wang on violin and Vanessa Perez on piano, playing Schubert, Bach, and Piazzolla.

He said the idea behind it was to explore 'American history and identity'.

The New York Times reports the actor is pairing up with cellist Jan Vogler for the project titled "New Worlds". "It's just a short journey from one continent to the other", he told the New York Times. So there's a pretty decent chance you'll be able to go watch all of this unfold live, on stage.
