Prince William and Kate kick off their two-day tour in Paris

Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge started their first trip to Paris.

The couple's trip took a sombre tone as the two visited Les Invalides military hospital and met with survivors of the 2015 Bataclan theatre terror attack.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge then flew off to Paris for a two-day Brexit charm offensive, meeting at Elysee Palace with French President Francois Hollande.

The couple will also attend a Six Nations rugby match between France and Wales at the Stade de France on Saturday.

"Kate was interested in my daughter's toy monkey she was holding and said that George had a toy rabbit called Bum Bum", one mother told the Press Association.

She underlined her French luxury statement with a necklace, earrings and watch by Cartier - a jewellery house associated with the Duchess of Windsor, Wallis Simpson.

The pair kicked off a busy day of engagements with a St. Patrick's celebration in London, and tonight they mixed with stars including actress Audrey Tatou, Dame Kristin Scott Thomas, who lives in the city, and footballer Robert Pires.

No official commemoration of Diana's death was planned during the trip, which comes just months before the 20th anniversary on Aug 31.

Which leaves the real question (after, how many kidneys would I need to sell for that bag/belt/dress), what will the Duchess wear for her next bout of very important/slightly tiresome business?
