Liverpool… from a Manchester City perspective

Liverpool… from a Manchester City perspective

Despite seeing Liverpool's hopes of a first league title since 1990 fall apart, Klopp maintains his belief that he can re-establish the club as the dominant force in English football and says he retains the backing of everyone associated with the club. Beat City, and the Reds will be 8 points ahead of Arsenal, and given their current form, that's probably an insurmountable barrier. Liverpool has lost to Hull City and Leicester City in poor performances, but also owns impressive wins over Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, two of their rivals for a Champions League place.

Yaya Toure and Nicolas Otamendi start from the beginning today having been on the bench during City's 3-1 defeat to AS Monaco midweek.

No side in the Premier League has scored more goals than Liverpool's 60 so far this season and Jürgen Klopp oversaw a sensational 4-1 victory in the corresponding fixture last term.

They are such a tough team to play against, as we found out earlier in the season, so to grind out a result when we haven't played well was pleasing and hopefully the team take confidence from that. It might not always be the way we want to play but it's about getting those three points ultimately.

Drake's 'More Life' Playlist May Not Be Exclusive To Apple Music

We have got a great record against top teams and hopefully we can keep it going.

On Origi: "Divock was off yesterday because he felt a little bit".

"We think we have really serious chances to do that".

"We need to show consistency". Liverpool have been a very good team with very good players for years and, although they have sometimes dropped points against "lesser" opposition, they always make it hard for the top teams. Sterling did things this season which I haven't seen him do before. I have been very fortunate to play in a lot of good teams and with a lot of good players. They are two completely different styles of play but two top-class teams. As aforementioned, the ageing fullback options have been a concern for a few campaigns now and they will have to be at their best to stop the likes of the rapid Mane and trickery Coutinho this weekend.
