Axe-wielding man injures least five at Dusseldorf train station

Anti-terror police have sealed off Dusseldorf station in Germany after reports of an attack involving a man armed with an axe.

Rail traffic was stopped at the station as helicopters scoured overhead and police were deployed in the area of the attack, the Bild daily reported.

Trains are not stopping at the station.

Police were still looking for other possible suspects, a spokesman for the German federal police said.

"Man with axe chased by police in Dusseldorf. Station closed. I am in the train things look bad #police #terror". The rail station remained shut down, he added.

The station has since been evacuated with a heavy police presence now on scene.
