Apple iPhone 8 likely to have a curved screen

Apple iPhone 8 likely to have a curved screen

Kuo claims (as we guessed) that rather than changing the charging port on the iPhone itself, Apple would be modifying the charging cable included with the phone. The company first introduced the Lightning connector on September 2012 alongside the iPhone 5 as a replacement for the 30-pin dock connector.

(Apple.com) The signature Lightning connector may no longer be needed in iPhone 8.

The iPhone 8 is conventional to come with a gratifying hardware boost, but could also feature a major shake-up in terms of its design and appearance, as Apple looks to give its top smartphone a much-needed makeover.

Apple is widely expected to launch three new iPhones this fall - two successors to the current iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, and a higher-end, possibly "pro" model with a better screen and a $1,000 price tag.

The iPhone 8 glance set to be one of the most striking smartphones to date.

Earlier this week a WSJ report suggested that the Apple could be getting ready to dump the Lightning connector in favor of USB-C.

Kuo believes that Apple will be adopting the power management tech from Texas Instruments, while the power delivery chips will be taken from Cypress. Also, the new L-shaped battery technology in the iPhone 8 will enable faster charging as well. Kuo said this might not be a priority for Apple because transferring files via a cable is a "niche application" these days as most people sync data through the cloud. Now, however, Ming-Chi Kuo has contested that report.

As of the iPhone 7 series, released last September, the Lightning connection is the only way to physically plug in another device to the phone.

Maintaining the use of a Lightning port on all future models will also allow Apple to maintain the royalty program that several third-party manufacturers pay the company to produce accessories and other products that use the Lightning interface.

With an Edge to Edge display, the iPhone 8 will be similar in size like the 4.7 inch iPhone.
