ABC News, 'GMA' Twitter accounts hacked

ABC quickly caught the hack and the deleted tweets, then tweeted from their PR account around 7am to say they were working to address the issue.

Alleged Trump supporters who referred to the president as "lord and savior" hacked the verified Twitter accounts of ABC News and "Good Morning America" on Thursday morning.

It's not immediately obvious how the attackers managed to penetrate ABC News' Twitter account.

Another fake tweet falsely claimed that a famous rapper had died in a bus crash. There is no confirmation the two were actually part of Lizard Squad as they also claimed to be Russian hackers.

These tweets were all found on the ABC News account Thursday.


Numerous tweets praised President Trump. In 2015, Newsweek, The New York Post and UPI's Twitter feed, as well as Twitter and YouTube accounts of the US military's Central Command, were hacked.

Numerous tweets were in Turkish and included references to Nazism.

Tweets and retweets of both the handles were promptly deleted.
