U.S. Army 'ordered' to grant approval of final section of DAPL

"I'm not going to take anyone's property or do anything like that", Hans Youngbird Bradley, a construction contractor from the Standing Rock Sioux tribe said during the meeting.

Our discussion comes almost two months since a federal agency effectively put the brakes on the DAPL pipeline, saying it would launch a lengthier environmental review.

Cramer, R-North Dakota, said he received word that the US Army Corps will grant final approval and that Congressional notification of the decision was "imminent". Lawyers for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe were not immediately reached on Thursday morning.

Morton County Sheriff's Office spokesman Rob Keller told BBC News that the arrests were made after demonstrators moved from their flood-prone main camp, Oceti Sakowin, to private land owned by the pipeline operator, Energy Transfer Partners. "Now that the Acting Secretary of the Army has directed the Army Corps of Engineers to issue an easement to complete the project, we know construction will move forward".

Hoeven issued a statement Tuesday after he says Acting Army Secretary Robert Speer informed him of the decision.

But Trump's executive actions on both pipelines signal how his administration will take a drastically different approach to energy and environmental issues.

The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe say the final section - under Lake Oahe, a reservoir on the Missouri River - would contaminate drinking water on their land and damage sacred burial sites.

If the impeachment vote is upheld by the Constitutional Court, she will have to quit and an election would be held two months later.

The Standing Rock Sioux tribe, which opposes the project, responded that Hoeven's announcement is premature and maintains that further environmental review is needed for the pipeline.

The $3.8-billion, 1,172-mile pipeline, which would carry up to 570,000 barrels of oil a day from the Bakken oil patch in northwest North Dakota to a terminal in IL, then on toward the Gulf of Mexico, is all but complete.

In his statement, Hoeven said various agencies are working to bring in more "federal law enforcement resources to support state and local law enforcement".

"We stand ready to fight this battle against corporate interest superseding government procedure and the health and wellbeing of millions of Americans".

On January 18, the group launched an initiative, calling upon members of the public to send their comments on DAPL project directly to the Army Corps of Engineers. Their determination to stop the pipeline was evident over the months of protest that occurred since construction on the edge of the Standing Rock reservation began.

"President Trump has proven to be a man of action and I am grateful for his commitment to this and other critical infrastructure projects so vital to our nation", the North Dakota Republican said in a statement.
