Man with rifle in East Oakland disarmed, detained

ABC News reports while Enjaian was at UM, university police investigating him for stalking a fellow student, but he was never charged with a crime.

Police quickly rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area.

Officials say a gunman who fired numerous shots Friday morning in east Oakland near the zoo has been disarmed and is in police custody. At one point he came outside and began spray painting a garage and a vehicle. He was being loaded into an ambulance Friday morning. However, he has since died from his injuries.

Police are unsure why a man in Oakland, California, Jesse Enjaian, started to shoot towards neighborhood residents and responding police officers with a high-powered rifle on Friday morning.

He then walked into the backyard, fired shots toward a fence and then the helicopter.
