Population Research Institute research shows that foreign organizations that either promote or perform abortions overseas received over $90 million from the U.S. Government from 2013-2015.

The one where Trump reinstated the "global gag rule" or Mexico City Policy, which stops federal aid to foreign organizations that provide or even give information about abortion.

Bill Clinton revoked it in January 1993 upon taking office, and George W Bush reinstated it when he assuaged the presidency eight years later.

The executive order - known as "the Mexico City Policy" - is likely to concern pro-choice groups, already wary of his anti-abortion stance. "The Trump Administration and Republican leadership have made no secret of their risky obsession with rolling back reproductive rights", she said.

According to the estimates of the World Health Organisation, around 22 million women across the world experience unsafe abortions every year, and the majority of these women come from developing countries.

Critics and health providers argue that the policy prevents women from accessing abortion and that it could lead to death.

Activists say the rule threatens to block access to safe abortions for countless thousands of women in the developing world. Right now, it seems the best action those overseas can take to support this would be to contact their government and urge them to contribute to the Dutch abortion fund.

"He wants to stand up for all Americans, including the unborn, and I think the reinstatement of this policy is not just something that echoes that value, but respects taxpayer funding as well".
