Sony Xperia X starts getting Android 7.1.1 Nougat Concept update

The Sony Xperia X is not the best performer smartphone in any category, but it's not the cheapest of its kind either, according to TechRadar.

Even though this is only for Xperia X owners who had signed up for the Experimental update track, it seems likely that the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update will soon be reaching all owners of this device. Granted, this is not a stable build of the update, but it is great for those who have joined in on Sony's Android concept program.

Don't be surprised if you receive an over-the-air (OTA) notification on your Xperia X Concept.

In November, Sony brought Android 7.0 Nougat to the Xperia X through the Concept for Android program.

In addition to the new features that were introduced, the Android 7.1.1 Nougat MR1 update also includes Google Security patches until December 1. There are obviously new features that come with this update, including the restart button's presence the power button is held down - just like what is depicted with the Pixel from Google. It's worth noting that Sony has added some improvements of its own, aside from the new features included in Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

While Sony has released the Nougat 7.1.1 update on Xperia X, it remains an experimental track package and not for the wider group of users, although it is expected that it would roll-out for the general audience in the next couple of weeks.

We can also see that this new update enables the camera application to be launched faster than before too.
