Carmelo Anthony Trade Rumors: Phil Jackson 'Determined' to Move Star PF

One of the most-talked about trade rumors recently has been the drama-laden speculation surrounding New York Knicks small forward, Carmelo Anthony. According to Fox Sports, the Cavaliers will do the Knicks a favor if they send Love to ny in exchange for Anthony.

The Knicks have now reached out to three teams, per the Vertical, in an effort to find a destination Anthony would accept in a trade: the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, and Los Angeles Clippers.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have nixed a potential trade that would send Kevin Love to the New York Knicks in exchange for 9-time All-Star Carmelo Anthony, according to several reports. Anthony is owed about $54 million over the final two years of his deal, including the remainder of his $24 million salary this season.

The Clippers are a team that would interest Anthony, league sources said.

ESPN's Ian Begley reported earlier this month that some in the Knicks organization believe it's best if the team and Anthony part ways.

Derrick Rose attributes every loss to defense - and did Wednesday.

Jackson can push to trade Anthony all he wants, but it will be a tall task.

Anthony scored 30 points Wednesday to raise his average to 22.7 points.

Now, a couple of years later, Carmelo Anthony is again in all the rumors as he might be looking to waive his no-trade clause and pursue the title somewhere else. Though you never know what Doc Rivers will do, it seems unlikely Anthony is traded to the Clippers.

"I think it would probably make you more competitive in the short-term and maybe, just maybe, that snowballs and lets you add better players in the offseason", added Bertrand. He is also on almost as lucrative a contract (Love makes about $2 million less per year) that extends a year longer than Anthony's.

The Clippers and Cavaliers are two teams that could interest Anthony because they are set up well and he has good friends on each team in Chris Paul and LeBron James.

If the front office in NY does decide that it is time to move in a new direction, Anthony likely won't be the only veteran player going to a new team before the National Basketball Association trade deadline. The last one to get traded before the deadline was Carmelo Anthony back in 2011 and the Knicks and the Nuggets swapped some players.

The Knicks are now 20-27 and in 11th place in the Eastern Conference.
